Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is world-renowned for its fried chicken. Known by the face of an old man with a white beard, the brand  indeed has a crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside history.

The journey started way back in the 1930s when a man named, Harland Sanders, refused to give up in the face of adversity and by the time of his death, in 1980s, became a multi-millionaire by successfully building the world’s most popular fast-food chain – KFC.

Early years of life :- Harland david sanders was born on 9 September 1980 in Henryville indiana. His father died when he was 6 year old. Sanders became responsible for feeding and taking care of his younger brother and sister. He spends his early years making his way around the southern states, trying his hand working as a staemboat pilot, Railroad fireman and farmer.


At age 40, Sanders was running a service station in Kentucky, where he would also feed hungry travelers. Sanders eventually moved his operation to a restaurant across the street and featured a fried chicken so notable that he was named a Kentucky colonel in 1935 by Governor Ruby Laffoon. But, during World War II with gas rationing, the motel and restaurant began to fail.


In 1950s he built a restaurant in the town of corbin. Sanders court & cafe was popular with travelers on their way to florida. Sanders was forced to retire and sell the restaurant. In 1952, living on his $105 a month Social Security benefits check Colonel Sanders embarked on his last career.

Sanders began traveling across the country, cooking along the way, determined to franchise his fried chicken. Many of the restaurant owners he met laughed at his signature dress of a starched white shirt, black tie, and white jacket and pants. There is a wonderful picture of the Colonel and Dave Thomas both wearing the Colonel’s signature attire.


In year 1952, the first kentucky fried chicken franchise opens near salt lake city, utah after the success of this several more restaurant owners signed franchise agreements with Sanders for the princely franchise fee of four cents per chicken.


International acclaim :-  By 1964 there were over 600 franchised Kentucky Fried Chicken locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, England, and Jamaica. At the age of 73, Harland sold most of Kentucky Fried Chicken to John Y. Brown and Jack Massey for two million dollars. He retained the locations in Canada for himself and excluding England, Florida, Utah, and Montana—because those were already sold to others.

Now this time , KFC have more than 25,000 restaurants in over 145+ countries and the networth of KFC in year 2021 is 20 billion rupess.

A legend passes :- After a rich and full life, harland sanders passes away at the age of 90. His legacy lives on through his original recipe chicken and the company logo adapts over the years.
